Hôtel Martinez

An experience to remeber

Hôtel Martinez

The LEGENDARY 5 STAR LUXURY HOTEL IN CANNES is where all the celebrities love to stay.

Located on the famous Boulevard de La Croisette and overlooking the Mediterranean sea, the Hôtel Martinez is a landmark of the French Riviera. Between nature and the city, this urban oasis is the ideal starting point to explore Cannes and the French Riviera. Opened in the late 1920s, Hôtel Martinez embodies the light-heartedness of the Côte d’Azur. Known for its warm atmosphere full of zest for life, this is and was the place to see and be seen on the iconic Croisette.  Especially during the Cannes film festival, this is the place to be if you want to be surrounded by celebrities.

La Croisette is the top-billing address for any Cannes hotel. It’s home to private beaches, designer shops, and each May to the movie industry. The train station, the Old Port, and Forville Market are within a 20-minute walk.

The undulating white façade screams Art Deco, while the light-infused lobby gives a contemporary take on 1920s style. Blue and white tones create a beach-house feel, while high ceilings, chandeliers, and artworks bring Riviera glamour. During the recent top-to-bottom renovation, sections of the interiors were demolished and rebuilt. Old pipework was renewed, French windows were doubled in height and the Art Deco staircase was carefully adjusted to fit current safety regulations. Tired details of yesteryear have gone as the hotel joins Hyatt’s new exclusive brand, the Unbound Collection.

Service and Facilities

Whether you arrive in a Bentley or a Skoda, you’ll be treated like royalty. The concierge team seeks to please: they’ll even prepare diet-specific pet food and walk your dog. It’s all changed for the hotel facilities. The pool has been replaced by a landscaped garden. Instead, you can swim at the hotel’s new private beach that’s a two-minute walk away. There’s a sauna and a well-equipped gym, while the sumptuous spa uses the Swiss brand, L Raphael.

Rooms

You know you’re somewhere exclusive when you use muslin tea bags for your morning cuppa, press a bedside switch to change the lighting mood, charge your phone in a USB plug and luxuriate in a bath using specially commissioned toiletries by local perfume-maker Fragonard. Gone are the brashly bright bedrooms of yore. Now its 409 rooms have been redesigned with a coastal theme: some in sky-and-sea blues, others in sandy shades. Expect white lacquered furniture, made-to-measure carpet, and white coral. Standard rooms are generously sized for Cannes. There’s not much difference in size between Standard and Deluxe rooms: both have showers only. If you’d like to make the most of the sea views, you should upgrade to a Premium Sea View room. Premium rooms are also significantly larger and many have bathtubs.

Food and Drink

Christian Sinicropi reigns supreme at the Martinez. As well as the world-famous Palme d’Or restaurant on a terrace overlooking the beachfront, you’ll also find lighter international fare with a Mediterranean twist at the beach club or in the landscaped garden. Rosewood and blue leather punctuate the Martinez Bar where gin (choose from 22 varieties) is the order of the night. Though expensive, breakfast is one of the best in Cannes. There’s a huge buffet complete with different sections for cold cuts, breads (including gluten-free), pastries, fruits, cooked meats and eggs, cereals, nuts, and seeds. There’s even a decorative beehive surrounded by types of honey.
