KAWAII means “cute” in Japanese.
A whole subculture developed around this concept. This cafe is centered around the concept of a fashion show by dolls (staff). Unlike a maid cafe, where everyone is dressed in the same uniform, the girls serve customers in their own, unique outfits. The interior is decorated with works by the popular illustrator, Project C.K. Large prints featuring original characters make for awesome pics! This is a good option for those who are interested in unique Japanese fashion, artwork, or cute things. There’s no smoking or drinking in the store, so it’s perfect for families with kids, they can really have fun! Is one of the most popular themed restaurants in a city where it’s possible to dine with robots, attend mad hatter tea parties, and be served by ninjas. The Monster Café concept is based on the Kawaii culture of cuteness which originated in Japan in the 1960s and remains popular today. Despite its name, there are no monsters in sight at the Kawaii Monster Café! The Kawaii Monster Café is all about the experience and it is sensory overload from the second you pass through the colorful cafe doors. Loud music, a kaleidoscope of colors, and an incredible giant cake-themed merry-go-ground greet visitors on entry. The staff, dressed in bright Kawaii-themed attire, will show you from the door, around the merry-go-round, and to your table.
The restaurant is split into four Kawaii-themed sections with each of the imaginatively named sections having its own décor and theme. The areas are:
*Mushroom Disco
*Milk Stand
*Bar Experiment
*Mei-Tea Room.
▪️Kawaii Monster Café Food and Drinks
There are some very whacky dishes on the Kawaii Monster Café menu – a rainbow pasta is the highlight of the mains while the colorful poison cake and parfait are the quirkiest on the dessert menu. All the coating of pastries is made from cream cheese and not sugar coating! The Kawaii Monster Café is a colorful, loud, and truly unique experience!
Elvira tip: the Monster Café bathrooms are also awesome so be sure to take a peek during your visit.
