Mandarin Oriental

An experience to remeber

Mandarin Oriental Singapore

The Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is one of the most popular hotels around the Marina Bay area. It has a very convenient location and more important it is surrounded by a number of shopping malls so there is plenty of food and entertainment options.

Also to mention is that every room comes with a bicycle, and there are also four wheels for kids! So you can take a bicycle and ride around the bay and go see the famous Merlion!

What I really liked is the fast service and you can be connected with the concierge also through Whatsapp, just a message away of what you need in order to be solved fast.

The team in general is very attentive to any query you have so you get maximum service satisfaction.

Located along Marina Bay, the hotel is connected by an indoor walkway to the massive Marina Square Mall, which houses a plethora of shops and restaurants. The Singapore Flyer and Esplanade theatres on the Bay are both steps away from the hotel, as is the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre (shopping mall). Orchard Road is a little further but will take you no longer than 15 minutes by taxi.

There is a total of 527 rooms and suites. But you will not feel its sheer scale once you’re cocooned in your room and treated to a postcard-perfect view of either the ocean (by far my favorite), or the bay of the city. Outfitted in a neutral palette with a gridded wooden wall panel, olive-colored bedspread, textured headboard, and lush carpets, the rooms are elegantly luxurious.

Book one of the 59 suites if you want to pamper yourself. The Premier Suite, for instance, comes with an airy living-cum-dining room, plus a separate master bedroom with its own living area. All rooms come with tea-making facilities, but Nespresso coffee machines are only available in suites and Club rooms.

The hotel offers unparalleled views of Marina Bay and its surrounding areas. The one-bedroom suite measures approximately 62sqm in size, and it features a large living room (complete with a private patio), spacious bathrooms (including a guest powder room), as well as a beautiful master bedroom. The very first that you will definitely notice as you walk into the living room is the amazing view from your very own space – the suite looks out to the entire Marina Bay area (making it the perfect spot to watch fireworks) and the roomy living area makes it the perfect spot for those traveling with family (or looking for more space to hang).

The bedroom of the Marina Bay Suite is connected directly to the living room but you can partition off this space by closing the wooden doors for additional privacy. Being able to enjoy the beautiful Marina Bay view from the comfort of your own bed is truly quite magical (especially at night!) and the luxurious bedspreads on the king-size bed allowed me to be truly rested. If you are planning on watching the TV, you will find another one here in the bedroom with plenty of channels.

All of the lights in the suite can be controlled via the panels located on the sides of the bed, and I really appreciate the fact that a universal power outlet (with a USB charging port) is readily available by the bedside since most of us would probably like to leave our mobile phones charging by the bed.

There is quite a bit of wardrobe space and if you are looking for the iron, personal safe, or bathroom slippers, they can be found here as well. Bath amenities are provided by Diptyque – a luxury French perfume house that is well-known for creating products in small batches to ensure quality. These amenities are now provided in larger pump bottles but this also means that you will not be able to bring them home with you.

The location of the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore makes it fantastic for all kinds of travelers – I love having Marina Bay located just a stone’s throw away as that allows me to go for a short jog around the area in the evening (you can also jog towards Gardens by the Bay and eventually East Coast Park if you are up for something further). Mandarin Oriental has its own gym and an amazing swimming pool.

While there are quite a handful of hotels that look out to the Marina Bay area, I dare say that the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore has one of the best views, and if you want a perfect photo, the private patio truly makes a huge difference.

There are more than enough restaurants and bars within the property to keep guests satiated. Of note is Dolce Vita, which serves classic Italian cuisine try the treccia mozzarella served tableside with rocket leaves, anchovies, and sundried tomatoes, as well as the homemade taglolini with Umbria sausage, ricotta, spinach, and black truffle.

Steak lovers should not miss a trip to Morton’s The Steakhouse for the legendary Morton’s Martini which comes with a free flow of complimentary fillet mignon steak sandwiches from 5 pm to 7 pm daily. Cherry Garden is popular with the nearby office crowd for its dim sum.
